Chatroom Experiencing Slowdown

The PG.Net chatroom is experiencing some issues at the moment. You may be able to enter, but it is extremely slow.

The “Who’s Chatting” box underneath the header on every page is also taking quite a while to load. If this is causing a problem with the overall site loading, please let me know by posting in the thread I’ve linked to at the bottom of this post and I will temporarily remove it.

I am currently waiting for the developers to resolve the problem, hopefully this will be within the next 24-48 hours. Otherwise, I will chase them up on Monday.

Updates will be posted in this thread.

Forum Template Viewing Issues

Since the new-look forum went live a few days ago, the staff have received a few queries regarding visual anomalies. On testing, it seems that these are down to browser-specific problems and slow connections.

To achieve the best possible visual experience while viewing the site, please ensure you are using the latest version of your web browser. At time of writing, these are are as follows:

Internet Explorer 8
Firefox 3.5
Chrome 3
Safari 4

The above browsers have all been tested and confirmed to work with the site.

If you are accessing the website through a mobile browser, such as an iPhone, some elements may not load correctly. This is most likely because of limitations in mobile software and slow connection speeds.

If you are experiencing problems with images not displaying correctly, try turning off image visibility in your browser. You will not be able to see any graphics, such as the header, avatars or smilies etc, but you should notice a significant improvement in forum load times.

Alternatively, in any topic there is the option to view a screen-friendly text-only format. Simply click the “Print View” link in the navbar near the top of the page.

If any members still continue to have problems after reviewing these tips, please don’t hesitate to let the staff know, or share a comment on this post. Please give us as much detail about the issue as possible, including browser version, operating system and internet connection method.

Re-arrangement of forum content

Apologies if you’re seeing forums and threads move around a lot – we’re updating how everything is displayed. Although Phantom of The Opera has been part of the foundation of this forum for almost five years (yes, we really are that old!), we are now focussing more on Gerard Butler. There is, sadly, only so much discussion one can have regarding one man and his role, and we’ve certainly done a thorough job of nit-picking, analysing and just plain drooling.

All the POTO content will still be available, it just won’t be quite as prominent as before. Members are always welcome to continue discussion of the subject and we hope this will be the case in the future.

Several forums are being created for discussion of Gerry’s individual movies. At the moment, they look a bit sad and empty, but over the coming days we’ll be shifting existing threads from other areas to fill them up. We hope you’ll enjoy contributing to these new areas, feel free to do so while we’re still spring cleaning.:)

Welcome to the new-look PG.Net!

After many hours of tweaking and testing, the new-look PG.Net is finally finished. In addition to the forum makeover, we now have a more advanced portal/blog for news articles and info about Gerry.

Although we’re up and running with the basics, there’s still a bit more work to do to tidy up the edges. Please bear with us as we iron out these last few things and let us know if you’re experiencing any problems.

In the meantime, enjoy the new design and happy posting!
